George started working in the field of substance abuse in 1993 and was initially certified as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Abuse Counselor through the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium reciprocal level while he was in the United States of America Air Force in 1997. As his career progressed, he became a certified Clinical Supervisor. He was also certified as an Arkansas Department of Transportation Substance Abuse Professional, a Detoxification Specialist, and a Co-occurring Disorders Professional.

George retired from the USAF in 1998 and moved back to Arkansas and started working for Recovery Centers of Arkansas (RCA). While with RCA George was a key person in the formulation of the Intensive Outpatient and Day treatment programs. As well as opening the Williamsburg CF living and OP Treatment building which had a capacity of 88 clients. George went on to work from 2005 – 2007 for the Arkansas Department of Community Correction (DCC) as a Drug Court Counselor for 3 years. After leaving DCC George went to work for Little Rock Community Mental Health Centers from 2007-2014 as their Director of Crisis Residential Services. This included the Residential Regional Alcohol and Drug Detoxification (RADD), Court Ordered Residential Treatment services, and Residential Crisis Stabilization services for people having mental health crises. In 2014 George Served as the Director of Mid Arkansas Substance Abuse Treatment Services, a component of Recovery Centers of Arkansas for about 6 months.

George then went to work with Quapaw House from 2014-2017 as the Director of Treatment Services, Hot Springs/Little Rock AR overseeing the operations of Medical Detoxification, Court ordered Treatment, Residential treatment, Outpatient treatment, and Medicated Assisted Treatment. Then George went on to serve as the Director of Adolescent Treatment Services for Preferred Family Health Care from 2017 2018 in Little Rock Arkansas. From there George went on to be the Chief Operating Officer of Serenity Park Recovery Center from 2018 to July of 2022, a medical detoxification and residential treatment Facility. George decided that it was time to slow it down after leaving Serenity Park Recovery Center in July of 2022 and follow his passion by finishing his long career helping people on an individual basis with Family Service Agency in North Little Rock Arkansas. In late 2022 George became a Certified International Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) surveyor.

George served on the following boards: 1) Tri-Service, National Capital Area, and Mental Health Alliance as the Chair. 2) Board of Deacons at Faith Chapel in Wichita Kansas and Evangel Assembly in Camp Springs Maryland. 4) Neighbors united for Levy as President and Treasurer 5) Levy Community Development Corporation. 6) Arkansas Substance Abuse Certification Board as Treasurer and President 7). Arkansas Association of Substance Abuse Treatment Providers as Vise-President and President 8). Governor’s task force for Substance Abuse 9.) Governors Coordinating Council for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention.
